Mission and Outreach
Our congregation offers several opportunities to become involved in community service projects as well as support of worldwide missions through the United Methodis Church.

Weekly donations of non-perishable food, diapers, and toiletries are collected in the narthex of the church. During the summer months, collection of back packs and school supplies are donated to SOS.
Newport Mesa Interfaith Council and Church World Service : The 23rd Annual Interfaith Hunger Walk on Sunday, Oct. 16th was a success with approximately $1600 donated from our team alone, which was approximately 10% of the entire donations collected city wide.
CHRISTMAS COLLECTION OF GIFTS AND DONATIONS FOR WILLARD SCHOOL FAMILIES: This year our church donated gifts to 3 families that were designated as "in need" at this school. A total of 21 grocery bags of gifts, 5 bikes, and gift certificates were given to 3 families, totaling 21 individuals. Willard Intermediate School is located in Santa Ana, and the teachers/administrators assist those "in need" in their community.
Family Promise: Ending homelessness one family at a time.
One week each quarter, we house and feed homeless families at our campus through the Family Promise organization. Through mobilizing community faith groups, Family Promise works to assist homeless families to achieve sustainable independence, while offering hope, compassion, and preserving individual dignity. UMCOR: The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is well supported by Christ Church by the Sea. When we give through UMCOR every penny goes to the ministry for which it is designated (no adminstrative costs are skimmed off). This way we know that when we respond to an emergency anywhere in the world, our gifts are most effective.
From time to time we also assemble various kits for UMCOR to distribute as health kits, layette kits, maternity kits, and flood buckets.
United Methodist MiSSIONARIES DAVID AND LORI PERSONS IN MULUNGWISHI, CONGO: David and Lori serve in a school and seminary supporting the work of the Church in Congo. Leadership and the majority of the staff are African. Christ Church by the Sea helps provide support for their ministry and provides scholarships for seminay students.
